What is "Find It Here"? For the Holston Valley Baptist Association of churches this is a major effort to deliver the Gospel to 23,396 households in Hawkins County and 2,861 households in Hancock County. 40% of these counties are unchurched! We are partnering with the North Amercian Mission Board and the Tennessee Baptist Convention in this effort. The supreme goal is to fulfill the Great Commission in the United States by 2020. So similar campaigns will take place across this nation.
Why it it needed? Because people need the Lord. This effort creates an opportunity to have conversations among spiritually-seeking non-Christians. Sowing the seed of the gospel opens the door for personal evangelism.
How does it work? People in Holston Valley churches (who volunteer to participate) will seek to distribute plastic bags containing a specially designed brochure along with a personal message from the churches involved. Information on the specially designed cards will help people to be aware of a Southern Baptist church in their area, help people to learn about Jesus' love, and also find websites where Christian testimonies are presented. We will do what we can to help the communities to be aware of what we're doing.
How is "Find It Here" structured? There are 3 phases: (1) Preparation and Prayer Walking (2) Gospel Distribution and Media Campaign (3) Follow-up on guests who come to church.
How does this really benefit my church? Many members of your church can get involved in evangelism through simply sowing the seed of the gospel among the lost. Praying at home; prayer walking; sprucing up your church; starting new ministries; and delivering bags door-to-door are important jobs that will fit every members' abilities. This major effort will also give your church a fresh reason to make personal contact with families in your community. New people can be reached. They will visit your church, and your church will experience the joy and excitement of seeing people come to Christ! You will have the opportunity to disciple new Christians so that they grow stronger in their faith.
